BERU exhibits at the »Week for the Environment« in Bonn

A biodiesel sensor developed by Ludwigsburg car supplier BERU AG is being shown at the »Week for the Environment« in the garden of Villa Hammerschmidt.

(Bonn) It´s one of the last official duties of retiring Federal President Johannes Rau: the »Week for the Environment« (2 to 5 June) organised by him in the park of Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn. Under the slogan »Energy for Sustainable Development« innovative products are being shown and trend-setting ideas introduced.

Ludwigsburg company BERU AG has been selected to provide one of around 30 exhibits in the form of a development from its Sensor Technology Division: the »biodiesel sensor« is fitted into the fuel pipe and can distinguish plant-based diesel fuel from mineral. Using the data thus gathered, performance characteristics for controlling the engine can be selected appropriate to the respective fuel mixture. This is necessary to comply with the conditions of exhaust emission standard Euro 4. The Biodiesel-Sensor will be develop by BERU in cooperation with Volkswagen.

BERU - ignition, diesel cold start and electronics specialist - is also involved in the sensor technology field and, especially for products such as the biodiesel sensor, is anticipating a steadily growing market here due to ever more stringent emission regulations worldwide.
