BERU updates technical information brochures for workshops and the motor parts aftermarket

Embracing progress: improving service: three new technical information brochures from BERU bring trade professionals up to date with all the latest developments. As free downloads from the internet or by e-mail on request.

(Ludwigsburg, 30 July 2008) Virtually no other industry has shorter innovation cycles than the international car industry. A supply partner like BERU, one of the leaders in the fields of Ignition Technology, Diesel Cold-Start Technology, Electronics and Sensors, therefore has to discern engineering trends way in advance, develop innovative products and make them ready for production “just in time”. Not only that, it has to pass on this valuable knowledge at the right time to its partners in workshops and the motor parts aftermarket. BERU therefore revises its product information at regular intervals, thus guaranteeing that important knowledge remains up-to-date and rapidly available.

New: BERU TI 02 “All about spark plugs”

Both technical information brochures - TI 02 “All about spark plugs” and TI 04 “All about glow plugs” - are now fully up-to-date. In 16 pages, the first gives a detailed overview of the way the spark plug works in the internal combustion engine, its structure as well as the various types of spark plugs produced by BERU and their special design features. Technical subjects such as ceramics and heat dissipation are explained in as much detail as spark position and sealing seat. TI 02 also devotes its attention to the numerous benefits of the BERU spark plug types Ultra, Ultra X, Ultra X Platin and Bi-Hex with double hexagon technology.

Practical workshop tips feature prominently. Professionals can learn everything about possible symptoms of damage in spark plugs, their potential causes and the expert installation of new plugs, for which BERU retains special fitting aids as useful accessories. A look at the manufacture of BERU spark plugs illustrates the high quality standards BERU meets in its production cycle. Comments on the “future of spark plugs” and the special demands associated with them in terms of ceramic properties and spark plug geometries complete the TI 02.

New: BERU TI 04 “All about glow plugs”

Also in 16 pages, TI 04 - “All about glow plugs” - deals with modern diesel engines, their various injection processes and the problems of cold starting in general. The structure and method of operation of self-regulating BERU sheathed glow plugs are likewise explained in detail in the revised TI, along with the BERU Instant Start System (ISS) made up of an electronic glow plug control unit and performance-enhanced BERU glow plugs. This enables diesel engines with a maximum heat-up time of two seconds to enjoy an “SI engine-like key start” even at extremely low temperatures of down to minus 25 degrees Celsius. Many car manufacturers already fit the BERU ISS ex-works.

Another section of TI 04 deals with the BERU PSG pressure sensor glow plug. This intelligent BERU product consists of the heating rod of the BERU ISS and a sensor integrated into the glow plug which measures the rapidly changing pressure in the combustion chamber and relays it to the engine control electronics. From as early as 2008 one of the world’s largest car manufacturers will be installing the BERU PSG as standard in new vehicles. Further series start-ups are planned.

Of particular importance for practitioners in the new glow plug TI are the sections entitled “Cheap designs - something you should do without“ and “Causes of failure of rod glow plugs”. They show workshop professionals the design features by which they can distinguish inferior, cheap glow plugs and copies of high-quality BERU branded products. Specific tips and practical help and advice for removing and fitting glow plugs complete the updated technical brochure.

New: BERU TI 06 “All about the ignition of gas-powered vehicles”

Gas-powered vehicles are one of the revenue drivers gaining increasing importance in the aftermarket and workshops: in times of rising fuel prices and impending driving bans, economical and low-emission types of drive are more than ever in demand. That’s why BERU has devoted the all-new TI 06 “All about the ignition of gas-powered vehicles” to this subject. The 16-page brochure explains in detail how to service gas-powered vehicles correctly and thereby prevent breakdowns. Accordingly, TI 06 first gives you important basic knowledge about different types of gas and the mono or bivalent vehicle systems currently on the market. Based on this, workshop tips follow on the choice of the correct BERU spark plug in vehicles powered by gas as standard or retrofitted. Also discussed in detail in TI 06 are the particular types of pollution to which lambda probes are exposed in gas vehicles and the effect ignition coils and ignition leads have on engine running.

The new technical information brochures, the current BERU product CD, BERU catalogues and all other reference materials and brochures are available for downloading free-of-charge on the internet at http://www.beru.com/english/produkte/download.php?id=all& or via e-mail request to produktpresse@beru.de.
