Ludwigsburg, 22nd April 2009 – The BERU Ultra X Titan is the top product for workshop mechanics and car retailers. This is the result of a poll of readers of a leading German technical magazine for the automotive mechanics. During Automechanika 2008 - the industry’s leading trade fair - workshop professionals were able to vote on the magazine’s Internet Portal for their favourites from among 95 innovative products from areas covering parts, workshop equipment, services and IT solutions. They voted for the world innovation spark plug from BERU AG, the international automotive supplier based in Ludwigsburg. Germany.

BERU Ultra X Titan: More power and ignition reliability, fewer emissions
Spark plugs are wearing parts, so it is essential that they are regularly replaced. Only spark plugs which function optimally and are changed at the intervals stipulated by the vehicle manufacturer ensure high ignition reliability and an environmentally-friendly, reliable combustion of the mixture.
With the new Ultra X Titan the Ludwigsburg-based expert in ignition technology, diesel cold-start technology, electronics and sensors has proved once again to be an innovative partner to the automotive industry and its aftermarket. The current range consists of a total of 15 types with ground electrodes from a highly erosion-resistant nickel-titanium alloy: Six multi-pole Ultra X Titan spark plugs as well as nine single-pole spark plugs with the poly-V ground electrode developed by BERU. Their innovative geometry ensures reliable ignition while at the same time providing optimum fuel utilization. The profile of the poly-V ground electrode consists of five ignition tips which control the ignition sparks alternately. The titanium electrode combined with the tapered ignition tip of the centre electrode guarantees a reliable ignition performance, low emission values and an outstanding cold-start performance over a long period.
A further guarantee for a reliable ignition is the corona discharge of the nine BERU single-pole Ultra X Titan types. It effectively prevents the electrical shunt between high voltage and electrical ground which can occur due to electrically conductive soot, especially when the engine starts. The advantage of this innovation from BERU is that gasoline engines start even under the most extreme conditions; at extremely low temperatures or after several short trips.
