BERU E-Relay Line PTC auxiliary heater. Especially compact and highly flexible with customer-specific installation requirements.
|
BERU develops innovative Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) auxiliary heaters in close cooperation with the automotive industry and manufacturers of climate control systems. Modern day fuel-efficient engines offer improved efficiency and dissipate less waste heat to the cooling system. As a consequence, at low outside temperature these engines do not provide the desired amount of heat quickly.
Innovative PTC auxiliary heaters from BERU make up for this shortfall of heat. The PTC auxiliary heater is installed behind the coolant heat exchanger, and it heats the cold air, which then travels through the air duct to the passenger compartment. The PTC heater supplies heat in the passenger compartment and clears the windscreen in seconds.
Various vehicle models from leading manufacturers around the world are equipped with the PTC auxiliary heaters by BERU. (These systems cannot be retrofitted).

BERU offers a wide range of auxiliary heaters, from the compact mechanical model to the electronically controlled comfort system that can be flexibly adapted to customer’s requirements and specifications.
BERU categorizes its PTC auxiliary heaters into 5 product lines that differ in types of control and functional capabilities (diagnostic capability, heater output...) as well as start-up behaviour.

BERU Mini PTC auxiliary heater for decentralised installation
(size: approx. 40 mm wide, 75 mm long)
Decentralised systems for heating in very specific area without large air ducts. These heaters can be used very effectively when the space available for multi-zone climate control systems with individual heating zones is limited. Flexibility to use combined air supply or separate fans.

BERU M-Relay Line
Compact, multi-stage auxiliary heaters with integrated mechanical relays. Benefit: Integration of the auxiliary heater into the electrical system of a vehicle requires no additional development effort. Furthermore, the secondary costs associated with wiring, relays, application and installation are reduced.

BERU Basic Line
Easy-to-install, microprocessor-controlled PTC auxiliary heater as a plug & play solution requiring noticeably less wiring in the vehicle. In this compact design, the heater rods are supplied power individually via PWM-controlled power transistors. The heat output is continually adjusted to satisfy actual requirements with its closed-loop concept. Internal diagnostic functions monitor, among other items, the temperature, voltage and current drawn by the power transistors.

Comfort Line
The high-tech PTC solution from BERU with maximum functionality, performance and convenience. Microprocessor-based, 0 – 100% variable control of heat output. Output power, functioning and diagnosis are based on one of the common bus systems such as CAN or LIN. The intelligent control behaviour of the BERU Comfort Line minimises power fluctuations in the on-board electrical system. Battery voltage, current levels, power transistors and heater rods are continuously monitored to initiate appropriate countermeasures in the event of a sudden voltage drop, short circuit or similar fault condition.
