Faults and defects with the tires are among the most common causes of breakdowns and accidents: Inadequate air pressure leads to increased flexing work and premature tire wear. In turn, at high speeds this can lead to tires no longer being able to withstand the loads and bursting.
The Tire Safety System (TSS) from BERU warns against sudden and gradual loss of pressure — and protects the driver from annoying breakdowns or even serious accidents due to defective tires.

Strict laws apply in the USA which were introduced following numerous, spectacular road accidents due to defective tires. According to a directive of the US Road Safety Authorities NHTSA, newly licensed vehicles must be equipped with a tire safety system from 2007.
The BERU TSS tire pressure control system an important safety component, which should be right at the top of your equipment list when buying a new car. (Please note that the TSS is only available ex-factory –
it is not possible to retrofit vehicles).
It can double the service life of tires and reduce fuel consumption by up to 4%. The system also offers more comfort by omitting the tiresome routine checking of the tire pressure at the petrol station.
Tire safety systems also play an important role in commercial vehicles. The performance and life of truck tires diminish rapidly and the fuel consumption increases due to too low a tire pressure. This increases the running costs of a truck considerably. Not to forget the accidents caused by tire damage.
The BERU tire pressure control system has been developed in close co-operation with the car manufacturers in the VDA working group Audi, BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Porsche and VW.
