Environment management system

We place great value on active environmental protection and on providing safe and ergonomic work-stations for our employees. We have incorporated quality and environmental protection, along with health and work safety, into an integrated management system. Our guiding principles for protecting the environment are set out in our Management Guidelines, and every employee at our company works to these guidelines.

Our environmental management system, which since 1999 has been certified to ISO 14001, ensures that we are aware of the effects we have on our environment, that we observe the relevant regulations, meet market requirements for environmentally friendly products, and work consistently towards improving environmental protection. Over 80% of BERU employees throughout the world are working at environmentally certified sites.

With our environmental protection program we have put into place measures to

• reduce waste
• optimise the way we use our raw materials
• increase waste separation and the recycling rate
• reduce the volume of less environmentally-friendly substances used
• reduce energy requirements
• reduce emissions
• enhance the environmental awareness of our workforce and contractual partners
• incorporate the aspect of environmental protection into the product development process
• bring industrial safety and health protection into line with current technology standards and the latest knowledge

Including suppliers and service providers

Suppliers and service providers working in our factories and who participate in our operational procedures can cause accidents or material or environmental damage if their actions are out of keeping with our procedures. For this reason we require that they follow our "Guidelines for members of outside companies", to ensure compliance with all work safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
